the other day my friend had told me to download ares and i did and after that my computer started acting up and now i deleted it .. i did a virus scan and spyware scan ..but i think my spyware is out dated cause i'm getting pop ups like a mfer... is there any good spyware programs that are free or is this something else.

ad_aware 2007 personal free edition and always click check for updates button once a week at least. Get it here http://www.lavasoft.com
also get ccleaner, I think you need to get rid of junks left over after reinstaling, in your registry and ccleaner will fix that. Its also free from http://www.ccleaner.com after installing it click on cleaner than analyze, let it finish finding all obsolete files than click on run cleaner button, that will get rid of those files
